Getting the right workforce, getting the workforce right
The issue of capacity within the workforce for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) services in Scotland was acknowledged in Partnership for Care: Scotland's Health White Paper in 2003. In recognition of this, an advisory CAMH Workforce Group was formed to consider the implications for workforce planning and to help identify how capacity within this element of the workforce could be developed.
The work of this group has culminated in an advisory report to the Executive. 'Getting the Right Workforce, Getting the Workforce Right' identifies some of the workforce implications for CAMH services in Scotland, and makes links to the recently published report 'The Mental Health of Children and Young People: A Framework for Promotion Prevention and Care'.
The important information contained within this report will be helpful to those responsible for workforce planning in Scotland as they refine these high level national estimates further in the development of their regional and NHS Board workforce plans.
