Project structure
The establishment of HeadsUpScotland is the result of work by many agencies and organisations. Those agencies continue to be supportive of the work of the Project and although the Project has only one full-time member of staff, the Project Director, there are many people who work alongside the Director, making significant contributions to the work of the Project. The Project has a Steering Group, comprised of representation from the Women and Children’s Unit at the Scottish Executive, representation from the National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Well-being and the Glasgow Centre for Population Health (where the project is based). Dr Graham Bryce, who also chaired the CAMHs SNAP process, chairs the steering group.

The Director oversees and co-ordinates all the work of the Project, and some of the strands of the Project’s work are led by individuals from the range of supporting agencies.
Papers from the operational group can be found in the library section of the web-site, the Project has an Operational Group, which will comprise all those individuals who have a specific role in leading strands of the Project’s work, and also some others who have expertise which is particularly pertinent to HeadsUpScotland. The Operational Group is the main group where implementation is driven forward.
Lastly, the project will have a number of reference groups, relating to the specific area of work. For example, people who have particular knowledge, expertise or interest in participation issues will form a reference group; similarly with schools work or with work on the specialist CAMHs area. However, most importantly, in line with the recommendations made in the Participation Plan, the project will have a group of children and young people who will be advisers to the project.
