Activities
The main activities of the Project are:
- Involve children, young people, parents and carers
- Develop and deliver a framework to support local activity to improve the mental health of children and young people
- Develop and improve the capacity of the workforce to support more appropriate interventions
This is a broad and ambitious agenda. The aim of HeadsUpScotland is to facilitate the integration of the mental health of children and young people as a mainstream issue, by supporting local areas in their work. It will highlight recurring systemic issues and seek to resolve them at a strategic level, working closely with colleagues in the Mental Health Division in the Scottish Government. Thus existing structures, organisations and individuals will, in the main, be the methods through which HeadsUpScotland will deliver its work. The function of the Project is therefore to:
- be a central point which provides vision and energy for the future of children and young people's mental health in Scotland
- provide a leadership and co-ordinating role to support the establishment/consolidation of these structures for mainstreaming mental health by encouraging and supporting local leaders
- make a major contribution to the available capacity to support the mental health agenda for children and young people by supporting local implementation.
